The light and beauty have forever attracted artists to this sea-side medieval town. It’s at once familiar and exotic with its lovely white-washed and blue-shuttered houses, fortified walls, colorful fishing boats, art galleries and mouthwatering seafood. The charm of the town is that it hasn’t been entirely taken over by tourism. The fishing harbour is just as busy as it always was, the woodworkers are still amazing at their craft and the medina is just as important for locals as it is popular with tourists. After a 3 hour drive from Marrakech to Essaouira you will get acquainted with the town’s fascinating history on a guided walking tour. At the harbor you might catch a small boat and sail to Jimmy Hendrick’s Island, where he got the inspiration for many of his famous songs. Or maybe you prefer making a camel trekking ride on the beach You will then enjoy some free time to wander along the beach, visit art galleries or do some shopping in the souk. For lunch we will feast on some freshly caught seafood at a local restaurant, following which we will drive back to Marrakech.
