FROM FEZ TO MARRAKECH
This 3 day Morocco desert tour from Fez to Marrakech offers an authentic desert experience; riding camels through the dunes of the Sahara Desert, spending a night in a traditional Berber campsite and experiencing breathtaking landscapes and must see sights like Ifrane, the cedar forest of Azrou, Ziz valley, Todgha Gorges and the kasbahs of Ait Benhaddou.
Fez was the capital city of modern Morocco until 1912. The city has two old medina quarters, the larger of which is Fez el-Bali. It is listed as a world heritage site and is believed to be one of the world’s largest urban pedestrian zones (car-free areas). University of Al Quaraouiyine, founded in 859, is the oldest continuously functioning university in the world.
Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi
We begin our three day desert tour from Fez to Marrakesh at 08:00 a.m through Sahara. We head towards Midelt through Atlas mountains, and the cedar forests of the middle Atlas. We go by Ifrane, a magical ski vacation spot and Azrou, an interesting craftwork specialized in cedar wood. We reach Midelt and have lunch. In the afternoon, we will be on the way to Erfoud and into the sand dunes. You will have a riding to the charming Erg Chebbi sahara desert where you will watch a magic sunset and spend the night in a traditional berber tent or under the stars ,also you will enjoy berber meals.
Day 2: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Tinghir – Dades Gorges
The next day, you wake up for an amazing sunrise, and having breakfast outdoors. We come back by camels to the hotel for showering. After that, we drive to Erfoud which is known as “The Gate of Sahara Desert”, also known by its fossils. Then, we drive through the orchards of palm trees. We pause a while for lunch, then we make a short wandering inside Todra Gorges. After we made a short walking, we head towards the last point , Dades Gorges, where we will spend the night in the hotel.
Day 3: Dades Gorges – Boulemane – Kelaa Mgouna – Skoura – Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Tizi-n-Tichka – Marrakesh
After having breakfast, we are going to take a short walk within the Gorges before we keep on our 3 days desert tour from Fez to Marrakesh. We will go via Dades valley to Kelaa Mgouna which is known as the Valley of Roses and couples of Kasbahs on the road. Our next pause will be in Ait Benhaddou village which is a worthy detour for a tasty lunch and Kasbah stroll. Movie buffs recognize this red mudbrick Kasbah 32km from Ouarzazate such as Lawrence of Arabia, Jesus of Nazareth (For which much of Ait Benhaddou was rebuilt), Jewel of the Nile and Gladiator. On the way from Ait Benhaddou to Marrakesh, we’ll pass the Tizi-n-Tichka col (2260m) and the High Atlas Mountains. Arriving in Marrakesh, we’ll drop you off at your hotel or riad.
