MARRAKECH TO MERZOUGA

Marrakech 3 Days 2 Nights Sahara Desert Tour To Merzouga.

The 3-day trip to the Sahara Desert from Marrakech to the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga is one of Morocco’s best itineraries. As you can see, all travel agencies take it as their first trip, to get to the point, and the itinerary is the same In any place, the quality of service, the qualifications of the driver, the choice of accommodation, and the long-term cooperative relationship with all parties involved in the trip (tour guides, restaurants, hotels…) will have an impact. However, the last one is the long-distance drive from Merzouga to Marrakech, so we recommend taking a 4-day extended trip if possible (especially if you are traveling with children)

Day 1 : Marrakech – Tizi-n-Tichka – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Skoura – Kelaa Mgouna – Boulemane – Dades Gorges
Early morning departure for the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah through the Tizi-n-Tichka col (2260m) and the High Atlas Mountains. Arrival in Ait Ben Haddou, the most beautiful fortified village of Morocco (Ranked by UNESCO as world heritage)and the setting for several films such as Lawrence of Arabia and Jewels of the Nile. We’ll enjoy lunch in the Hollywood of Morocco, Ouarzazate, before heading to Boulemane Dadès where we will sleep.  

Day 2 : Dades Gorges– Boulemane – Tinghir – Todgha Gorges – Tinjdad – Touroug – Erfoud – Merzouga
After breakfast, return via the Dades Valley until Boulemane in order to continue in direction of Tinghir and the Todgha Gorges, walk in the Gorges and afterwards departure to join Erfoud by Tinjdad Palm grove (lunch on the spot) and the one of Touroug. Arfoud, Rissani and our final destination for the day, Merzouga. We’ll have time to relax in hotel and you can have Berbere whiskey before we begin our camel ride. We make our 1½ hour breathtaking and tranquil journey as the sun is setting across the desert. Once at the camp, we’ll enjoy traditional Moroccan cuisine while the nomads entertain us with their music by the fire.

Day 3 : Merzouga – Marrakech
We will wake up to enjoy the sunrise over the dunes of Erg Chebbi, the best moment of Merzouga desert, followed by a typical breakfast in the bivouac of Merzouga, then you will ride back the camels to the Hotel for shower, and drive back from Merzouga dunes to Marrakech via Tazarine and the Draa valley, Agdez and Ouarzazate. You will have free time for lunch on the way before you will continue to Marrakech, where your tour from Marrakech to Merzouga ends. You will cross again the Tizi N’Tichka pass and the Berber villages between Ouarzazate and Marrakech.
